Duties & Responsibilities of Junior Representative Coaches

The importance of a strong representative program cannot be understated. It brings players, parents and officials from all our clubs together under one banner to compete as the Illawarra district. A successful representative program generates pride in the districts achievements as a collective. It brings new players into the competition from other codes that do not offer the same opportunities. It offers a challenge for our strongest players to test their skills at a higher level. The skills attained by our representative players are then brought back into the local competition for the ultimate gain of all players and as a consequence increases the standard of rugby in the district.

What is expected from a representative coach?

A representative coach should be able to prepare the best players at district club level so they can compete successfully at representative level by providing a level of coaching the players do not receive at club level. Players should complete their representative commitments, satisfied they have acquired better rugby skills through their involvement, and their participation at a representative level should be a highlight of their rugby year.
