John Noonan (The IDJRU Chairman) has requested that you read the minutes of the meeting held on 20th October 2009.
It was raised at the meeting that we tend to lose players in the when they hit the Under 8's because the Illawarra has followed the no tackling in rugby union at this level track, however a vote was not taken due to lack of representation from all clubs..
John would like a directive from each president before Monday night as to whether their club would be open to changing this ruling to allow tackling from u8's upward for the 2010 season onwards.. This would be the only change, field sizes etc would remain the same it would just mean the kids could tackle and therefore we may not lose so many to other codes.
Please try and do this as there is a Board Meeting on Tuesday night and John would like to present this as a constitutional change. Just e mail me and I will have it all sorted out for John to take to the meeting.
On a more personal note, I have recently been awarded custody of my grandson and I find myself in the situation of not being able to remain in the role of Junior Secretary.
I would like to ask if there is anyone out there who would like to do the role. It is not a difficult one and very enjoyable as you are all great to work with.
I will remain in the position until we can find someone to take over so please bear with me if I do not attend meetings and work from home.
