Tasmania does not currently have a senior team. It seems that the players have lost interest because of the severe and regular beatings they had to endure in the Australian Rugby Shield.
In an effort to grow interest again Tasmania Rugby has started with an U.23 team that played against the U.20's at last year's Southern States Championships in Adelaide. The result is that Tasmania now has a core group of players that are interested in playing more rugby but the tournament has been cancelled for this year therefore opponents are being sought.
Suitable opponents would be those that will allow the U 23 team to be competitive so that this fledgling interest can be nurtured. Games would like to be played sometime in September.
